Original Coney Island Shooting Gallery
This rare and original shooting gallery was manufactured in Coney Island by W.F. Mangels Company. Installed in it’s original location on Stillwell Avenue, it was positioned two blocks from The Boardwalk. It was boarded up in the 1930s, a result of Shooting Galleries becoming prohibited due to the use of live ammunition. As a result, it remained hidden until it was discovered in 1992 in complete and working condition, and continues to function perfectly. In use for only a short period, there is very little overpaint, with 90% of the original paintwork intact. This example is believed to be the only original working condition shooting gallery that was manufactured by Mangels and located in Coney Island.
