Hermes Medallion

Recreation of an early 20th century, American cast iron architectural medallion depicting Hermes in high relief. One of eight made, it originally was part of the architectural ornamentation along the parapet of 245 Park Avenue in New York City. The medallions hung on the building façade until WWII, when all but two were removed for the scrap metal drive. Hermes, the Greek messenger god, was the overseer of commerce, trade, and merchants. Recreation made of acrylic-based resin.
