Exceptional San Francisco Cable Car Model
American, 1885, patent model or salesman's sample of a cable car crafted of brass and steel. This is a working model that displays a brake system which engages the brakes automatically if an obstruction is on the tracks. The model mechanically works as you can see in the image of the undercarriage. It also demonstrates the seat backs as reversible and movable and glides easily on its wheels on the track it comes with. It is engraved with: "Cable Car Attachment, Henry J. Rohrbach, Chicago, ILL." And across the front it reads: "No. 31, Cable Car Attachment" and has a plaque reading: "Patented APR 28 '85".
