Val D’Osne Spinario Figure
19th century Boy with Thorn, also called Fedele (Fedelino) or Spinario, is based on a Greco-Roman Hellenistic sculpture of a boy withdrawing a thorn from the sole of his foot, now in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome. This statue circa 1850 has a bronze Val d'Osne of France label on the base indicating it was produced as an exposition piece being of finer quality than the mass runs of castings. He has very soft and lovely features. An excellent sculpture both grand and delicate. Original patina but can be sand blasted and waxed per request.
